Between Here and Nowhere
Water holds two realities at once.
The surface reflects sky, trees and light while simultaneously revealing stones, roots and matter beneath it. Nothing has been digitally combined or manipulated; these worlds coexist in the photograph because they coexist in the physical scene.
The images ask the eye to move constantly between surface and depth, reflection and object, what is there and what appears to be there. The longer I look, the less certain the image becomes.
The series forms part of my ongoing investigation into perception and the unstable boundary between the observed world and the reality constructed through seeing.
