But I Did is a selection from a broader photographic series exploring desire and sexuality from a female perspective.
Throughout art history, the nude body — both female and male — has predominantly been portrayed by men.
With But I Did, I deliberately reversed those roles: as a female artist, I photographed the male nude.
The work explores what changes in the image when looking and desire originate from a female perspective:
the body as object and projection.
