Zen Mind Beginners Mind

Which person (dead or  kicking ass) do you want to meet?

For me that would be zen master Shunryu Suzuki. The ‘writer’ of my favourite books:
Zen Mind Beginners Mind & Not Always So.

The titels became my life slogans. I wrote them on my studio walls…, just as a reminder to
always approach things and situations with an open mind, full of curiosity and wonder.
Without preconceptions and prejudgments. That way I experiment more, keep on flowing
instead of overthinking and conceptualising.

Before I start a photoshoot I always read a few pages.

“If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything, it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s mind there are few. ”

“The true purpose [of Zen] is to see things as they are, to observe things as they are, and to let everything go as it goes… Zen practice is to open up our small mind.”

― Shunryu Suzuki
